Skagit Valley College sophomores Aidrien Wilkins and Derik Bron have each received a $750 award from the national Music Performance Funds Department of the American Federation of Musicians.
Wilkins, the son of Kevi and Yvonne Wilkins of Oak Harbor, plays the guitar and is a member of the Skagit Valley College jazz band. He plans a career in music.
Bron, 18, the son of Diederik Sr. and Mary Bron of Sedro-Woolley, plays the piano, guitar and trombone. Bron, a home-school student, is a sophomore at Skagit Valley College through the Running Start program. He plans to pursue a career in music education, and would like to teach music and English at China's Beijing University.
